E. L. WITTBECKER und Mitarbeiter [1] beschrieben 1959 ein als »Grenzflächenpoly kondensation« (interfacial polycondensation, IFP) bezeichnetes Verfahren zur Synthese von Kondensationspolymeren. Bei diesem Verfahren läuft die Kondensationsreaktion an der Phasengrenze zweier nicht miteinander mischbarer Lösungsmittel ab. So bildet sich z. B. an der Grenzfläche zwischen den beiden Lösungen Sebacinsäuredichlorid in Tetrachlorkohlenstoff und Hexamethylendiamin in Wasser Nylon 610. E. L. WITTBECKER und Mitarbeiter [1] synthetisierten nach diesem Verfahren Polyamide, Polyurethane, Polysulfonamide und Polyester. R. E. WHITFIELD, L. A. MILLER und W. L. WASLEY [2-9] verwendeten 1961 das IFP Verfahren zur Filzfreiausrüstung von Wolle. Dabei wird mit einer wäßrigen Hexa methylendiaminlösung getränkte Wolle mit Sebacinsäuredichlorid in einem mit Wasser nicht mischbaren organischen Lösungsmittel behandelt. Der an der Phasengrenze Wasser I organisches Lösungsmittel gebildete Polyamidfilm maskiert die Schuppen der Faseroberfläche. Eine Folge davon ist die Reduktion des richtungsgebundenen Rei bungskoeffizienten (directional frictional effect, DFE), welcher für das Filzvermägen verantwortlich ist. R. E. WHITFIELD, L. A. MILLER und W. E. WASLEY haben Wolle nach dem Verfahren der Grenzflächenpolykondensation mit Polyamiden [2-3], Polyestern, Polyharnstoffen [5], Polyurethanen [4] und verschiedenen Copolymeren [6] ausgerüstet. Dabei ergab sich, daß die besten Antifilzeffekte mit Nylon 610 erzielt werden. Zur Erzielung eines ausreichenden Antifilzeffektes genügte eine Nylonauflage von 1 bis 2%.
