Urbanismusdebatte trifft auf Medienkunst. Am Beispiel von New York und Tokio werden in diesem Band urbane Mythologisierungen aufgezeigt und mit den Imaginationsräumen der Medienkunst abgeglichen. Anhand der für Urbanisierungsprozesse zentralen Begriffe von Musealisierung und Mediatisierung werden acht Werke aus Videokunst, Musikvideo, Netzkunst, CD-Rom und Computerinstallation einer dichten Analyse unterzogen. Die eingehende Betrachtung der Medienkunst bringt vielgestaltige Abwandlungen urbaner Mythen zum Vorschein und führt bei Musealisierung und Mediatisierung zu zahlreichen Begriffserweiterungen auf den Ebenen von Raum, Zeit und Bild.
