Content: This book focuses on the performance optimization of fault diagnosis methods for power systems including both model-driven ones, such as the linear parameter varying algorithm, and data-driven ones, such as random matrix theory. Studies on fault diagnosis of power systems have long been the focus of electrical engineers and scientists. Pursuing a holistic approach to improve the accuracy and efficiency of existing methods, the underlying concepts toward several algorithms are introduced and then further applied in various situations for fault diagnosis of power systems in this book. The primary audience for the book would be the scholars and graduate students whose research topics including the control theory, applied mathematics, fault detection, and so on.
Note: Introduction -- Fault Diagnosis of Variable Pitch for Wind Turbine Based on Multi-innovation Forgetting Gradient Identification Algorithm -- Active Fault-tolerant Linear Parameter Varying Control for the Pitch Actuator of Wind Turbines -- Fault Estimation and Fault-tolerant Control of Wind Turbines Using the SDW-LSI Algorithm -- A New Fault Diagnosis Approach for the Pitch System of Wind Turbines.

Content: For the nations on its borders, the rapid rise of China represents an opportunity-but it also brings worry, especially in areas that have long been disputed territories of contact and exchange. This book gathers contributors from a range of disciplines to look at how people in those areas are actively engaging in making relationships across the border, and how those interactions are shaping life in the region-and in the process helping to reconfigure the cultural and political landscape of post-Cold War Asia.

Content: 'Rising China' - the nation, the notion, and the buzzword - sparks dreams and triggers fears. Borders that were closed during the Cold War era have again become zones of contact and exchange. At the same time, security concerns remain high, territorial disputes still loom large. In this context, engaging in everyday neighbouring relations has become a necessity for those living in these zones of contact and exchange. The experiences and realities of relation-making across China's borders shape life in profound and lasting ways

Content: This book integrates the analyses of organic carbon and carbonate accumulation in soil and lake sediment in a typical arid region of China that has experienced significant climate and land-use changes. It demonstrates that carbonate accumulation greatly exceeds organic carbon in both soil and sediment. It also shows that intensive cropping with sound land management in the arid land not only increases soil organic carbon stock, but also enhances accumulation of soil carbonate, particularly in subsoils. Carbon accumulation in the lake sediment increased between 1950 and 2000, after which it declined, and the authors explore how human activity and climate change may have caused the changes in carbon burial in the lake sediment. This book is of interest to researchers in a number of fields such as soil science, limnology and global change, as well as to the policy-makers.
