Der niederländische Autor schreibt Bücher in einfacher Sprache für Jugendliche, meist über Themen des Zusammenlebens, z.B. Mobbing, Integration oder soziale Probleme wie Geschwisterliebe. Hier nun über Chatten im Internet und Missbrauch. Sein Protagonist ist Paul, 13, Computerfreak. In seinem Computerkurs hat er seinen Mitschülern anonymes Chatten beigebracht. Beim Üben kommt er, ohne es zu wissen, mit einer Klassenkameradin ins Gespräch, die Vertrauen zu ihm fasst und ihm ein "schreckliches Geheimnis" verrät: sie wird von ihrem Vater missbraucht. Paul rät ihr, professionelle Hilfe zu suchen und gibt ihr Tipps. Alles anonym und sehr behutsam. Die Geschichte ist anrührend und durchaus glaubwürdig, obwohl einige Zufälle eingebaut sind. Da das Problem in vielen Variationen aktuell ist, sollte dieses verständliche, aber sehr einfühlsam erzählte Beispiel, in dem der Chat nicht, wie oft, der Weg zum Missbrauch ist, sondern zur Hilfe, und die Website und Telefonnummer des Jugendtelefons angegeben werden, in möglichst vielen Büchereien für Jugendliche ab 13 bereitstehen.
