"King Ivan Asen II (1218 - 1241)". This is a collection of papers from an international scientific conference which marked the 800th anniversary of the enthronement of King Ivan Asen II (reigned: 1218-1241). The conference, hosted by the Institute for Historical Studies with the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, was held in Sofia between November 29 and 30, 2018 under the motto "King of the Bulgarians and the Greeks". Thirty-six medieval studies experts from Bulgaria, Greece, Italy and Serbia took part in the conference. This book includes a considerable part of the papers presented at the conference. It will enrich readers' knowledge about the reign of Ivan Asen II and Bulgaria's place in the Balkans and Europe at that time. (DE-1a)
