Content: The Central Thai speak the Central Thai (Tai-Shan) dialect of Tai, live in central and southern Thailand, and practice Theravada Buddhism. The Thai name for their country is "M'ang Thai" and their name for themselves is "Khon Thai." This file consists of 27 documents with a time range from roughly 1800-1993. Many of the studies focus on sociocultural change. Eight of these are centered on the village of Bang Chan but geographic and ethnographic surveys of other villages are included. Other topics include changing patterns of land ownership; the impact of economic development on rural-urban relations and politics; an account of a market area; studies of folk religion; monastic organization; the relationship between merit-making and identity formation; Thai cosmology, self, and modernity; education and culture; and love magic

    ISBN: 9781461206576

Content: Suitable either as a reference for practicing engineers or as a text for a graduate course in adaptive control systems, this book is a self -contained compendium of readily implementable adaptive control algorithms that have been developed and applied by the authors for over fifteen years. These algorithms, which do not require the user to identify the process parameters explicitly, have been successfully applied to a wide variety of engineering problems including flexible structure control, blood pressure control, and robotics; they are suitable for a wide variety of multiple input-output control systems with uncertainity and external disturbances. The text is intended to enable anyone with knowledge of basic linear multivariable systems to adapt the algorithms to problems in a wide variety of disciplines. Thus, in addition to developing the theoretical details of the algorithms presented, the text gives considerable emphasis to design of algorithms and to representative applications in flight control, flexible structure control, robotics, and drug-infusion control. Engineers can thus use and test these algorithms in practical problems. This second edition has been corrected and updated throughout. It makes use of MATLAB programs for some of the illustrative examples; these programs are described in the text and can be obtained from the MathWorks file server

Content: "General Principles of Tumor Immunotherapy: Basic and Clinical Applications of Tumor Immunology" brings together the world's leading authorities on tumor immunology. This book describes the basic immunology principles that form the foundation of understanding how the immune system recognizes and rejects tumor cells. The role of the innate and adaptive immune responses is discussed and the implications of these responses for the design of clinical strategies to combat cancer are illustrated through both experimental clinical trials and review of current standard of care therapeutic agents. This information will be invaluable to both students of immunology and cancer research and practicing physicians who have patients with cancer. The book provides a comprehensive overview of the field, demonstrates how advances in basic immunology can and are being applied to cancer, and describes the current status of approved immunotherapy regimens.
Note: General Principles of Tumor Immunology -- A Perspective on Cancer Immunology and Immunotherapy -- Tumor Antigens -- T Cells and Antigen Recognition -- The Role of Natural Killer T cells in Tumor Immunity -- Immunomodulatory Molecules of the Immune System -- HLA Class I Antigen Abnormalities in Tumors -- The Local Tumor Microenvironment -- Tumor Vaccines -- Peptide and Protein Vaccines for Cancer -- DNA Vaccines Against Cancer -- Recombinant Viral and Bacterial Vaccines -- Dendritic Cell Vaccines -- Whole Cell Vaccines -- Carbohydrate Vaccines Against Cancer -- Passive Immunotherapy Approaches -- Monoclonal Antibody Therapy of Cancer -- Adoptive Cellular Therapy for the Treatment of Cancer -- Checkpoint Blockade and Combinatorial Immunotherapies -- Clinical Tumor Immunotherapy -- General Approaches to Measuring Immune Responses -- Interferon Therapy -- High Dose Interleukin-2 Therapy -- Monoclonal Antibodies in Cancer Therapy -- Unmasking tumor cell immunogenicity by chemotherapy: implications for therapy.
