Content: Dass Kunst kritisch sei, wird im immer wieder emphatisch beschworen und heftig bestritten. Ausgehend von dieser Situation, die sich in den gegenwärtigen Debatten seit der Jahrtausendwende immer deutlicher zeigt, widmet sich das vorliegende Buch explizit der Frage nach dem emanzipatorisch-politischen Gesellschaftsbezug von Kunst. In einer dichten Auseinandersetzung mit den ästhetischen Theorien von Jacques Rancière und Theodor W. Adorno entwickelt die Autorin eine aktuelle Theorie des Verhältnisses von Kunst und Politik. Eine differenzierte Kunst-Kritik muss demnach einerseits die kunstkritischen Reflexion der Kunstwerke als solcher beinhalten, und andererseits jene Kritik, die den den Kunstwerken immanent sein soll. Diese doppelte KunstKritik berührt also auch grundlegende Fragen von Wahrheitspolitik und Aufgaben einer emanzipatorischen Kunstvermittlung. Ihren Anspruch stellt die Autorin immer wieder an Beispielen – "Konkretionen" – auf die Probe. Nebenbei kann das Buch auch als eine fundierte Einführung in die ästhetischen Theorien Rancières und Adornos gelesen werden.
