Die Frage, wie unerwünschte Verzögerungen in Schiedsverfahren zu vermeiden sind und wie das Verfahren insgesamt gestrafft werden kann, ist eine im Schrifttum wie in der Praxis viel diskutierte Frage. Insbesondere die Parteien selbst empfinden ihr Schiedsverfahren in vielen Fällen als zu lang. Allein die Wahl des Schiedsverfahrens garantiert noch keine zügige Durchführung desselben. Der Verfasser beleuchtet das Problem aus der Sicht und unter Berücksichtigung der Interessen sowohl der Parteien und Parteivertreter, als auch der Schiedsrichter. Dabei stellt er die den Verfahrensbeteiligten zur Verfügung stehenden Gestaltungsmöglichkeiten dar und zeigt Anhaltspunkte für mögliche Verzögerungen auf. Insbesondere trägt die Darstellung auch der Internationalisierung der Schiedsgerichtsbarkeit Rechnung und diskutiert die entsprechenden Entwicklungen. Darüber hinaus stellt die Arbeit Möglichkeiten zur Optimierung des Verfahrens für alle Beteiligten dar und geht schließlich auf die Besonderheiten eines beschleunigten Verfahrens im eigentlichen Sinne ein.
