Denn es ist vor allem Unwissenheit, weshalb Menschen auf der einen Seite einfache und vor Krankheiten schützende Hygienemaßnahmen nicht berücksichtigen, auf der anderen Seite aber viel zu leichtfertig zu Antibiotika und antimikrobiellen Reinigungs- und Desinfektionsmitteln greifen. Egert gelingt es in seiner kurzweiligen und humorvollen Darstellung, Irrtümer richtigzustellen und sachlich aufzuklären über ein Thema, das heute vermehrt beachtet wird. Der Mensch braucht Mikroben zum Leben und zur Erhaltung seiner Gesundheit, Keimfreiheit im Alltag ist nicht möglich und nicht erstrebenswert. Es gibt aber auch sehr gefährliche und krankmachende Keime, denen wir dank der modernen Medizin etwas entgegensetzen können. Hier schützen vor allem Impfungen und der gezielte Einsatz von Antibiotika und Desinfektionsmitteln. Neben "Mikrobiom" (ID-A 36/17) und vor B. Ehgartner: "Die Hygienefalle" (ID-A 5/16).
