Description: This paper investigates the stabilization problem for impulsive switched systems with time delays. First, exponential stability criteria of the delayed impulsive switched systems are established by use of the Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional method. Based on these results, sufficient conditions for the existence of a guaranteed cost control are also given. Subject to these sufficient conditions, the closed-loop impulsive switched system under the guaranteed cost control law will be exponentially stable with a guaranteed cost value.

Description: The increasing adoption of intelligent transportation system (ITS) data in smart-city initiatives worldwide has offered unprecedented opportunities for improving transportation air quality management. In this paper, we demonstrate the effective use of ITS and other traffic data to develop a link-level and hourly-based dynamic vehicle emission inventory. Our work takes advantage of the extensive ITS infrastructure deployed in Nanjing, China (6600 km ) that offers high-resolution, multi-source traffic data of the road network. Improved than conventional emission inventories, the ITS data empower the strength of revealing significantly temporal and spatial heterogeneity of traffic dynamics that pronouncedly impacts traffic emission patterns. Four urban districts account for only 4% of the area but approximately 30%–40% of vehicular emissions (e.g., CO and air pollutants). Owing to the detailed resolution of road network traffic, two types of emission hotspots are captured by the dynamic emission inventory: those in the urban area dominated by urban passenger traffic, and those along outlying highway corridors reflecting inter-city freight transportation (especially in terms of NO ). Fine-grained quantification of emissions reductions from traffic restriction scenarios is explored. ITS data-driven emission management systems coupled with atmospheric models offer the potential for dynamic air quality management in the future. The intelligent transportation system data in Nanjing are applied to establish a high-resolution traffic emission inventory for a fine-gained evaluation of emission management scenarios.

Description: Time-varying characteristics of DC traction power supply system network structure are the key technical problem in its mathematical modeling. Based on node admittance network equation theory, this paper puts forward an optimizational mathematical modeling method of DC traction power supply system for urban mass transit, and that is to conduct automatic sequencing firstly for all the nodes on both ends of traction substation and the train according to the given rules, then arrange the nodes according to the position coordinates and save them into the arrays, and finally generate the node admittance network equation of DC traction power supply system according to the self-adaptive real-time dynamics of node arrays and input parameter documents. Simulation study indicates the rationality and correctness of optimizational mathematical modeling method of DC traction power supply system for urban mass transit.

Description: When the technique of boosting regression is applied to near-infrared spectroscopy, the full spectrum of samples are generally used to perform partial least squares (PLS) modeling. However, there is a large amount of redundant information and noise contained in the full spectrum. This not only increases the complexity of the model, but also reduces its predictive performance. In addition, the boosting method is sensitive to data noise. When the data are mixed with too much noise, the generalization performance of boosting will decrease, and the prediction error and the variance of PLS will be relatively large. To solve these problems, a gradient descent boosting ensemble method combined with backward interval PLS (GD-Boosting-BiPLS) is proposed in this paper. BiPLS is used to select the effective variables for the boosting base model, and each base model is trained sequentially by resampling. The spectral segmentation parameter of BiPLS and the iteration parameter of boosting are fused, and the weight of each base model is distributed by the gradient descent strategy. This leads to a new ensemble model (forward additive model) in the direction of reduced residuals. The final model is the ensemble model that obtains the minimum root mean square error of prediction (RMSEP). The proposed method is applied to the quantitative prediction of ethanol concentrations. Over iterations 1–50, the average correlation coefficients of the calibration and validation sets are 0.9628 and 0.9388, and the average RMSE of cross-validation and RMSEP are 0.0732 and 0.0675, respectively. The overall performance of the proposed GD-Boosting-BiPLS method is compared with those of various ensemble strategies and 4 kinds of state-of-the-art spectral modeling methods. The experimental results reveal that the proposed method has the best generalization performance and stability.

Description: This paper is concerned with the boundedness and attractiveness of nonlinear switched delay systems whose subsystems have different equilibria. Some sufficient conditions which can guarantee the system's boundedness are obtained. In addition, we work out the region where the solution will remain and furthermore the relationship between the initial function and the bounded region. Based on the new concept of attractor with switching laws, we show that the nonlinear switched delay system is attractive and then obtain the attractive region.

Description: In this paper, the stabilization problem of switched control systems with time delay is investigated for both linear and nonlinear cases. First, a new global stabilizability concept with respect to state feedback and switching law is given. Then, based on multiple Lyapunov functions and delay inequalities, the state feedback controller and the switching law are devised to make sure that the resulting closed-loop switched control systems with time delay are globally asymptotically stable and exponentially stable.

By extending Mao's method, we first derive an upper bound of state observation duration of the corresponding systems with continuous-time state observation feedback controls. We further establish exponential stabilization conditions in pth moment for the hybrid neutral stochastic system. The obtained results have potential applications to stabilize practical hybrid systems with interconnected stochastic oscillators.

Description: This paper studies the practical exponential set stabilization problem for switched nonlinear systems via a $$\tau$$ τ -persistent approach. In these kinds of switched systems, every autonomous subsystem has one unique equilibrium point and these subsystems’ equilibria are different each other. Based on previous stability results of switched systems and a set of Gronwall–Bellman inequalities, we prove that the switched nonlinear system will reach the neighborhood of the corresponding subsystem equilibrium at every switching time. In addition, we constructively design a suitable $$\tau$$ τ -persistent switching law to practically exponentially set stabilize the switched system. Finally, a numerical example is presented to illustrate the obtained results.
