Ebolaviren und das Marburg-Virus bilden die Familie der pathogenen Filoviren, die schweres hämorrhagisches Fieber verursachen und Bedeutung als mögliche biologische Waffen erlangt haben. Der schnelle Nachweis ist deshalb von großer Bedeutung. In den letzten Jahren wurden einige Nachweismethoden für Filoviren entwickelt, die auch für den Einsatz unter Feldbedingungen geeignet sind. Voraussetzung ist allerdings, dass für den Einsatz dieser Tests außerhalb von Hochsicherheitslaboratorien das Probenmaterial sicher inaktiviert ist. Ziel der Untersuchungen war die, Inaktivierung von Filoviren mittels chemischer Detergenzien und physikalischer Temperaturverfahren, zudem konnten monoklonale Antikörper gegen das Marburg-Virus etabliert werden, die in einem Antigen-Erkennungstest eingesetzt werden können.
