Wie in einer Autobiografie lässt Autor Gortner ('Die Herrin des Winterpalasts', ID-A 42/18) Marlene Dietrich ihr turbulentes Leben schildern, doch nur die Jahre von 1914-1946, d.h. ca. 50 Jahre fehlen komplett. Von der strengen Mutter abgelehnt, strebt Marlene nach Selbstbestimmung und wird nach Umwegen über Musikstudium und Berliner Tingeltangel ein gefeierter Filmstar, der bald auch in Hollywood Erfolg hat. Die bisexuelle Diva lässt so gut wie keine Beziehung aus, hält dabei aber fest an der einzigen Ehe ihres Lebens mit einem Filmschaffenden, obwohl man sich längst auseinandergelebt hat. Dabei bleibt letzten Endes auch die Tochter Maria, genannt Heidede, auf der Strecke. Tapferkeit beweist Marlene im unbeugsamen Kampf gegen die Nazis, was zugleich zum Bruch innerhalb der eigenen Familie führt, denn Mutter, Schwester und Schwager gerieren sich als Mitläufer. Ein prima recherchierter Roman mit lebendig geschilderten Wirkungsorten sowie detaillierten Sexszenen, der Einblick in die Kulissen der Filmwelt gewährt. Die Dietrich wirkt oft wenig sympathisch, doch das entspricht wohl der Realität. Empfohlen! Anna Eunike Röhrig
