    Uniform Title: Harold and Maude
(Quelle: Umschlagtext).

    Uniform Title: Dipu Number 2
Content: An adventure story for young boys, "Dipu Number Two" is the second film of a talented director from Bangladesh who is one of the few who concentrate on quality filmmaking in a country with a rich commercial film industry. The story is taken from a youth-oriented novel in which Dipu, a boy belonging to the educated class, is teased by the school bully but eventually forms a deep relationship with him. The rest is totally escapist in nature, including a scene in which the two youths manage to capture single-handedly an entire group of robbers. [www.banglamoviemela.com]

    Uniform Title: Matir Moyna
Content: The film is set against the backdrop of unrest in East Pakistan in the late 1960s leading up to the Bangladesh War of Liberation. In this setting, a small family must come to grips with its culture, its faith, and the brutal political changes entering its small-town world. Anu, a young boy, is sent off to a madrasah by his unbendingly devout father Kazi. Anu's younger sister falls ill and dies because of Kazi's refusal to use conventional medicine. While at the madrasah, Anu befriends Rokon, an eccentric misfit in the rigorous religious school, who is forced by the teachers to undergo an exorcism by ducking in the freezing river to cure himself. Personal tragedies beset the family and tests its loyalty to the obdurate patriarch Kazi, who still believes in the religious unity of Pakistan, in the face of cruel, contradictory events. A shattering political development then changes their town, their life, and the inner dynamics of the family, including the patriarch's role. [wikipedia.org]

    Uniform Title: Khelaghor
Content: Filmmakers have diversely depicted our Liberation War. By and large, the war has been portrayed either explicitly through direct war scenes or implicitly by featuring a story of that time. Director Morshedul Islams latest movie, Khelaghar (Dolls House), falls in the second category. Based on Mahmudul Haques novel of the same name, the film depicts the Liberation War against the backdrop of a love story. Khelaghar is set against the backdrop of rural Bangladesh, when the war had broken out in 1971. The focus is on a discussion of two friends, Yakub (Riaz) and Mukul (Arman Parvez). The story takes a new turn when Yakub receives a letter from his friend seeking shelter for his sister, Rehana (Sohana Saba) ... [www.banglamoviemela.com]

    Uniform Title: Lalon
Content: Lalon Fakir (? – 1890), a doyen among the Baul-Fakirs of Bengal, composed few hundred songs of profound depth and an excellent sense of music. Buddhist Tantricism, Hindu Vaisnavism and Islamic Sufism all have their shares of influence on Lalon. Throughout the decades Lalon’s songs, depicting asceticism and transience of life, have expressed the pathos and pangs of the caste-ridden subaltern rural populace of Bengal. Lalon's secular ideas and enchanting lyrics left deep influence on the subsequent generations of the different trends of Baul-Fakirs of Bangladesh and India. Though Lalon died only a hundred years ago yet not much details of his life is clearly known and some aspects are still shrouded in mystery. By portraying the milieu of Lalon who was a kind of a Guru during his life-time, the film aims to catch the social ethos of his period. Some historical personalities, who were prominent in the cultural history of Bengal of that time and came in touch with Lalon, like Jyotirindranath Tagore, Kangal Harinath and Mir Mosharraf Hossain, also figure in the film. The film tries to portray Lalon's life, persona and ideas mainly through the lyrics of his songs. [Cover]
