Zusammenfassung Die Psychosomatische Medizin und Psychotherapie existiert als eigenes Fachgebiet seit 2003. Akutkliniken mit diesem Schwerpunkt, die nicht Teil einer psychiatrischen Einrichtung sind, etablierten sich in der Folgezeit erst allmählich. Detaillierte Beschreibungen über die spezifische Vorgehensweise und die sich daraus ableitenden Abläufe in einer solchen Klinik gibt es bisher kaum. Wolfgang Hagemann schafft hier Abhilfe. Er stellt das Konzept der »Begegnungsmedizin« vor, das seit zwanzig Jahren in der von ihm gegründeten psychosomatischen Klinik erfolgreich angewendet wird. In dem integrativen Behandlungskonzept steht die therapeutische Gemeinschaft im Mittelpunkt: der Aufbau von Selbstwert steigernden und Autonomie fördernden Begegnungen mit allen Menschen innerhalb der Gemeinschaft. Begegnungen zu Patientinnen und Patienten werden in einer Weise geführt, dass Beziehungen wieder emotional tragend werden, dass in den primär bedeutsamen innerfamiliären und engen Freundesbeziehungen ein intimer Dialog wieder gelingt, die primären Bedürfnisse befriedigt werden und die individuelle Lebensfreude wächst. Hierfür sind eine systemische Haltung in der Klinikleitung wie auch ein systemisches Krankheitsverständnis unerlässlich. Zahlreiche Fallbeispiele illustrieren das vorgestellte Konzept.
