Cette thèse est composée de trois grandes parties. La première contient la caractéristique du Livre d'Esther en tant qu'un texte biblique et littéraire à la fois. Ceci est associé à la description du processus de la fabrication des rouleaux liturgiques ainsi que de la représentation des coutumes accompagnant la fête des Pourim pour laquelle le Livre d'Esther est une base religieuse. La deuxième partie contient la description d'évolution des décorations et des illustrations dans les rouleaux d'Esther (en hébreu meguillat Ester) présentée dans le contexte de l'art paneuropéen et en comparaison avec des exemples choisis d'art juif dès la moitié du XVIe siècle à la deuxième moitié du XVIIe siècle. Quant à la dernière partie de cette thèse, nous y présentons la caractéristique du corpus des dix-sept exemples de rouleaux nommés 'de type Gaster' (abgrégé GI), des rouleaux 'de type Klagsbald' (abrégé K) et de trois rouleaux s'inspirant de ces deux types. Dans les rouleaux de type GI et K la technique de la gravure (pour les bordures) et le texte écrit à la main ont été mis en oeuvre. Le modèle gravé sur le parchemin a été toujours le même parce que les décorations et les illustrations de ces rouleaux ont été faites à partir du même ensemble des plaques de cuivre. Nous y commentons la manière de leur production, les matériaux employés, l'écriture, les illustrations et les décorations y présentes et nous essayons de proposer leur datation et leur lieu d'origine

The dissertation consists of three main parts: the characterization of the Book of Esther as a biblical and literary text, combined with the description of the preparation of the scrolls for the synagogue use and the presentation of some practices acompanying the feast of Purim for which the Book of Esther is the religious justification; the description of the development of the decorations and illustrations in the scrolls of Esther (Hebrew megilloth Esther) starting from the 2nd half of the 16th century (when they began to appear until the 2nd half of the 17th century, with the background of the European-wide art, as well as the selected examples of jewish art; the characterization of the corpus od seventeen so-called Gaster I (GI) and Klagsbald (K) scrolls and three scrolls derived from them. All scrolls in the types GI and K were made in the seventeenth-century Italy in the following way: decorative borders were printed on parchment and later painted, and the hebrew text of the Book of Esther was written by hand. Decorations in those megilloth include illustrations, repetitive floral and interlaced patterns and elaborate decorations at the beginning and the end of the scrolls. The illustrations contain as many as 36 narrative scenes enclosed in 20 frames. The dissertation includes the most accurate possible description of each of the scrolls (supplemented by photographs), as well as the expanded characterization of the corpus of these manuscripts, including the way they were produced, materials, decorations and illustrations, script and some new suggestions concerning the date and place of their origin
