Wie zahlreiche Bände der "Kleinen Reihe 2.0" hat nun auch die Botticelli-Monografie eine Überarbeitung erfahren: leicht vergrößertes Format, neues Titelbild und Hardcover- Ausstattung, inhaltlich laut Verlagsangabe "auf den neuesten Stand gebracht". Der Text zu Leben, Schlüsselwerken und historischem Kontext mit farbigen Abbildungen auf fast jeder Seite eignet sich als informative, preiswerte Einführung. Die breite Empfehlung von S. Merz-Horn anlässlich der Originalausgabe von 1993 (ID-A 32/93) gilt nach wie vor. Die Vorauflage von 2014 (hier nicht besprochen) muss nicht zwingend ersetzt werden, angesichts der Popularität von Botticelli könnte die Anschaffung eines Zweitexemplars jedoch sinnvoll sein.
