Der aus dem Ruhrgebiet stammende Peter Thorwarth inszenierte seine Gauner-Komödie "Bang Boom Bang" voller Klischees und übertriebener Charaktere - aber immer mit einem Augenzwinkern und so "real wie möglich". Wenn man sich einmal vor Ort umsieht, wird man vieles aus dem Film so - oder in verblüffend ähnlicher Form - auch tatsächlich wiederfinden. Thorwarth hat es geschafft, mit seinem Regiedebüt - für den er auch diverse Förderpreise bekommen hat - nicht ins Klamaukhafte abzudriften. Irgendwie erinnert einen "Bang Boom Bang" sehr an Quentin Tarantinos Filme "Pulp Fiction" und (vor allem) "Jackie Brown" - ohne jetzt ein schlecht gemachtes Remake oder eine Kopie darzustellen. Speziell der kompliziert konstruierte, sich scheinbar "windende" Plot, das gute Timing, die interessante Kameraführung sowie die Kombination aus Film und (Blaxploitation-) Musik könnte auch von Tarantino stammen.
