Von 2004 bis 2005 wurde der Einfluss von Diflubenzuron auf die Fauna der Waldlebensgemeinschaften eines Eichenwaldes in Süddeutschland untersucht. Hierzu wurden zwei behandelte mit einer unbehandelten Räche verglichen. Die Reaktion der Avizönose wurde mittels quantitativer Rasterkartierung auf je 30ha erfasst. Nach dem Insektizid-Einsatz war die Dichte und die Diversität der Vögel insgesamt signifikant geringer als in der Nullfläche, innerhalb der Nahrungsgilden ging die Dichte der Insektenfresser signifikant zurück. Die Zusammensetzung der Nestlingsnahrung von Singvögeln wurde durch Infrarotkameras in je drei Nistkästen ermittelt. Nach der Behandlung nahm der Anteil der Raupen stetig ab. Der Bruterfölg von Singvögeln wurde in jeweils 30 bzw. 29 Nistkästen ermittelt. Die Erstbrut wurde hinsichtlich der Zahl flügger Jungvögel pro Kasten nicht messbar beeinflusst, Zweitbruten dagegen fanden in der behandelten Hache kaum statt. Der Bruterfölg von Mittel-und Buntspechten (Dendrocopos medius und D. major) wurde in je drei bzw. zwei Höhlen mit Hilfe des Tree Top Peepers untersucht. Die Brüten wurden nicht messbar beeinträchtigt. Die Insektenzönose der Baumkrone wurde an jeweils zehn Eichen durch Einzelbaumbenebelung erfasst. Arborikole xylobionte und phytophage Käfer (Coleopterd), Wanzen (Hemipterä) und Netzflügler (Neuropterd) wurden im Behandlungsjahr signifikant häufiger in der behandelten Fläche nachgewiesen. Im darauf folgenden Jahr traten diese Gruppen nur noch in stark reduzierter Dichte auf. Arborikole Ameisen {Formicidae) reagierten nicht messbar auf die Behandlung. Nachtaktive Schmetterlinge (Lepidopterd) wurden mit Lichtfallen gefangen. Die Gruppe insgesamt zeigte keine negative Reaktion auf das Insektizid, einzelne Arten und Artengruppen, deren Entwicklung genau im Zeitfenster der Diflubenzuron-Wirkung stattfindet, wurden jedoch stark reduziert; betroffen waren insbesondere Schmetterlinge der Roten Liste. Anhand einer umfangreichen Literaturstudie wird der Einfluss auf weitere Mitglieder der Waldlebensgemeinschaft diskutiert (Quelle: Verlag).
