Menschen mit Lernschwierigkeiten (= Menschen mit geistigen Behinderungen) gelten historisch-politischer Bildung nicht als Zielgruppe, auch im kulturellen Gedächtnis treten sie kaum als Akteure / Akteurinnen auf. Die Autorin dieser Studie geht der Frage nach, ob Menschen mit Lernschwierigkeiten die NS-„Euthanasie“-Verbrechen als ihre Geschichte verstehen können. Mithilfe von qualitativen Interviews, teilnehmender Beobachtung und anderen qualitativen Methoden erforschte die Autorin die Erinnerung der NS-„Euthanasie“-Verbrechen durch Menschen, die im Nationalsozialismus zu den Opfern gehört hätten. Die Befragten nahmen zuvor an einem Angebot historisch-politischer Bildung in der Gedenkstätte Hadamar teil. Damit werden Menschen mit Lernschwierigkeiten zu Akteurinnen und Akteuren innerhalb des kulturellen Gedächtnisses.
