Die jiddische Kultur Europas lässt das Jerusalem Quartet zusammen mit der Sopranistin Hila Baggio wieder aufleben mit dem 2. Streichquartett aus dem Jahr 1933 von Erich Wolfgang Korngold, der, früh als Wunderkind gefeiert, ins Exil ging und in Hollywood zu einem der erfolgreichsten Filmkomponisten aufstieg. Weniger Glück hatte Erwin Schulhoff, der im KZ starb. In seinen 1923 komponierten 5 Stücken für Streichquartett nimmt er die Tänze der Zeit (u.a. Walzer, Tango und Tarantella) auf und verarbeitet sie zu schwungvollen Preziosen. Für Kabarett-Aufführungen in Polen waren zwischen den Weltkriegen die fünf Lieder entstanden, die ein Bild des jüdischen Alltagslebens in Warschau zeichneten. Eine zeitgenössische Perspektive auf diese Musik liefert die Neuvertonung von Leonid Desyatnikov für Singstimme und Streichquartett. Absolut hörenswert! pr

Das 2. Streichquartett, entstanden 1933, von Erich Wolfgang Korngold, der im Exil zu einem erfolgreichen Hollywood-Filmkomponisten avancierte, und 5 Stücke für Streichquartett von Erwin Schulhoff, der 1942 im KZ starb, werden ergänzt durch eine Neuvertonung jiddischer Kabarett-Lieder aus den 1930er-Jahren.
