Abstract: The mushrooming number of PTKI (Perguruan Tinggi Keagamaan Islam - Islamic Religious Higher Education) clusters has made competition between universities even tighter, thus using promotional strategies to increase public trust. The increase in the interest of new students is an indicator of the success of the college in marketing education. This research is devoted to UNUSA as an Islamic organization-based PTKI (NU) that carries out promotional strategies to increase the interest of new students. This research uses a qualitative case study approach. The results showed that UNUSA used a promotion mix through advertising, such as; national television, personal selling, publications, and direct marketing. UNUSA's branding as PTNU (Nahdlatul Ulama' College) using a promotion mix has implications for increasing the number of new students by 21% over the last five years with a total achievement of 6,035 new students from 49% of the Nahdliyin community segment.

Abstract: This article reports on a quantitative explanatory research conducted with nationwide survey 1000 of millennial Muslim generations in five major cities in Indonesia regarding the digital literacy. The results found that the digital literacy level of millennial santri in Indonesia was quite good. Although the majority learn the internet independently, they were quite quick to adapt to cyber culture. Unfortunately, the duration of internet access has remained quite high that was likely to open up opportunities for negative effects from the internet. In addition, it was also found that several generations of millennial Muslims contributed to spreading hoax, even though without any intention. This occurred because they tended not to check or validate information to authoritative sources.

Abstract:   The history of Islamic education in the early 20th century led to various changes, especially the emergence of madrasas as an Islamic schooling system. Traditional Islamic educational institutions inevitably have to harmonise and open themselves to transformation, even though they initially experienced opposition. Using a qualitative approach with a narrative documentation method based on historical texts and observations in several Islamic educational institutions in Aceh, this article focuses on revealing the history of the dayah and meunasah as a traditional Acehnese Islamic educational institution that underwent some fundamental changes. The results found: First, the existence of the dayah is more long-term than the meunasah even though both forms of this institution are rooted in the same ideological principles with different patterns, seen from the early 20th century until implementing sharia law in Aceh after the Helsinki peace agreement, the dayah was still existed by maintaining its institutional form. Second, the emergence of madrasas as a formation of the government’s political policy on the social conditions of the people that occurred has provided space for traditional Islamic educational institutions (such as the dayah) to open themselves to including general subjects, although this second result has led to struggles; Third, there is a contestation between dayah, Islamic schools, and madrasas, with public schools driven by traditionalist and modernist groups in maintaining their existence. The contest has opened the history of the dayah and meunasah into the form of public schools and madrasas in the future, both of which apply Islamic religious material, where public schools are superior to madrasas in terms of curriculum, educational programs, and human resources.

Abstract: Melihat sejarah perkembangan dunia Islam dalam upaya pemeliharaan Al-Qur’an sampai akhir zaman melalui Taḥfiẓ al-Qur’an, rupanya telah menginspirasi pendidikan Islam saat ini.

Abstract: The development of Islamic education in southern Thailand has been in the spotlight of researchers in the last decade in efforts to establish a national education, although this study is still less attractive. The existence of Pondok schools as Islamic educational institutions is considered to have mobilized separatist movements and the authority of traditional Malay Muslim elites to fight for territory. The existence of the Malay rulers with their authority in the fields of religion and culture made traditional Islamic education deeply rooted in the southern Thailand region. Muslims in the southern province are allegedly a monolithic entity whose existence constructs the institutionalization of Thailand as a state, thus opening up space for separatist seeds that emerge from Islamic educational institutions. The existence of Islamic reformers such as Haji Sulong Abdul Kadir is strong evidence that his movement is treading the religious and cultural field in the process of reviving the institutionalization of Islamic education in Southern Thailand. The establishment of Madrasah al-Ma'arif al-Wataniah Fatani as a forum for Haji Sulong Abdul Kadir to fight for reforms in Islamic education institutions, despite strong opposition from the state and the authority of the traditional Malay Muslim elite but ultimately the principles of reform were realized even though the reformers had died and the madrasa was closed.

Abstract: This article attempts to fill a research gap on the development of Islam in Mindanao, Southern Philippines, in the 19th century, where Muslim traditions in the region were well established and connected with Muslim intellectuals in other Islamic worlds. This relates mainly to a set of primary sources of Islamic manuscripts recently discovered by scholars such as Gallop, Fathurrahman, and Kawashima in the Mindanao area, which previously belonged to a local Maranao ‘ulamā’, named Shaykh Aleem Ulomuddin Said. This collection of manuscripts is written in three languages: Malay, Arabic, and Maranao, which contains various fields (al-Qur’ān studies, ḥadīth, tafsir, tasawuf, prayer, and ajimat, akidah and theology, and Arabic morphology). Using a qualitative approach and philological research methods, the findings of this study indicate that these Islamic manuscripts show the close relationship of Mindanao Muslim networks during the 18th and 19th centuries with their other Malay counterparts, such as those in Aceh, Banten, Cirebon, and Minangkabau. It also confirmed its network with the wider Islamic world in the Middle East region (Mecca, Medina, and Yemen) through the Sufi order of Shaṭṭārīyah, and influenced the intellectual tradition until the 19th century.

Abstract: This study aims to explore the practice of Islamic education leadership in the conflict state, in Pattani Southern Thailand, a region where the conflict is prolonged until the decades are between the Malay Muslim minority with the Thai government that is Buddhist. Using a qualitative approach with the method of case study, this study focused on Madrasah Pattani, with the head of madrasa, one teacher, and three alumni as informants. Interviews were conducted with FGD to find out the extent of leadership in Pattani Madrasas during the conflict. The results were found that in hard conditions, the madrasa could develop a strong madrasa vision by adopting a modern curriculum and integrate it with the Islamic curriculum of Islam. Although this method has been opposed to the entry of Buddhist teachers, the head of madrasah neutralise by making several activities to create social cohesion and build cooperation with universities abroad. Leadership mode is rare and difficult to implement in areas that are being hit by an ethno-political conflict on behalf of religion.
