Content: While conservative and conventional finance accentuates theories such as portfolio optimization theory, the capital asset pricing model and the efficient markets hypothesis, the emerging field of behavioural finance investigates the more prominent psychological and sociological issues that impact the decision-making process of individuals, groups, and organizations. It holds out the prospect of a better understanding of financial market behaviour and scope for investors to make better investment decision based on an understanding of the potential pitfalls. This paper will discuss behavioural finance theories like overconfidence, loss aversion, the problem of inertia, financial cognitive dissonance, the theory of regret, and the prospect theory. In conclusion, the paper will provide strategies to assist individuals to resolve these “mental mistakes and errors” by recommending some important investment strategies

Content: Objective Prior ethics educational interventions for residents have shown improvement in confidence and knowledge scores strictly in an internal medical resident population. Baseline knowledge and attitudes regarding reproductive ethics and law of obstetrics and gynaecology (ob/gyn) residents were assessed via a survey. Then, after completion of a 20-h curriculum for the residents, the residents were resurveyed in order to assess impact of the curriculum. Methods An online survey with both multiple-choice and open-ended questions was administered to residents both prior to and after curriculum completion. Results A total of 39 residents (85% of the total ob/gyn residents) completed the survey. 67% of respondents thought ethics was very important in clinical practice, but only 3% considered themselves very familiar with medical ethics. Respondents were asked five case-based questions to assess baseline knowledge and only 10% answered all questions correctly prior to the curriculum. After the residents completed the curriculum, 31 subjects (79% of the original 39 resident respondents) responded to the same survey. 52% of respondents answered all five questions correctly and 31% considered themselves very familiar with medical ethics. Conclusions Despite the importance placed on reproductive ethics and law by survey respondents including its impact on their clinical practices, there continues to be a deficiency in formal ethics education in ob/gyn. Our curriculum demonstrated both improvement in confidence as well as knowledge of residents towards issues of reproductive ethics and law.

Content: Business professionals should enrich themselves with accounting knowledge which requires critical thinking, problem solving skills in addition to technical skills to succeed in the knowledge based economy. But it is often observed that entry level employees consider it as an abstract & boring field. Although the need of accounting & finance knowledge has been increased due to UAE shift towards VAT, block chain, industry revolution & their vision of being knowledge economy. In this paper, an exploratory research has been presented by introducing games as a complementary tool to theoretical training of Introduction to Finance Accounting to develop accounting talent in innovative way. It has been argued that the game can be used as a powerful tool in making accounting training more interesting, hence increasing engagement & motivation. This paper aims at showing the use of the gamification project in talent development as a practice that will stand-in the motivation of employees as well as their understanding of the basic accounting concepts. The perceptions of sixteen employees and six trainers from corporate training department in the United Arab Emirates relating has been studied. The impact of games in an accounting course were disclosed through semi structured interviews, prior to the sample being interviewed, they had been exposed to play three different types of games. The exploratory research found that trainers and trainees believe that games can motivate employees and help them in maintaining their enthusiasm and engagement in learning an introductory accounting course. They do agree that games should be used for making them understand real practical applications. The trainees highlights that games are one of the motivational factors to maintain interest consistently and excitement of applying the concept in real world. This exploratory research will give an idea of innovative method of developing talent through accounting and finance related training. It will assist trainers to understand the fact that the use of games can make absurd, complex and quantitative subjects like finance & accounting easy to understand and entertaining without sacrificing the quality of knowledge in the subject matter

Content: Despite 30 years of advocacy, the prevalence of non-therapeutic female genital alteration (FGA) in minors is stable in many countries. Educational efforts have minimally changed the prevalence of this procedure in regions where it has been widely practiced. In order to better protect female children from the serious and long-term harms of some types of non-therapeutic FGA, we must adopt a more nuanced position that acknowledges a wide spectrum of procedures that alter female genitalia. We offer a revised categorisation for non-therapeutic FGA that groups procedures by effect and not by process. Acceptance of de minimis procedures that generally do not carry long-term medical risks is culturally sensitive, does not discriminate on the basis of gender, and does not violate human rights. More morbid procedures should not be performed. However, accepting de minimis non-therapeutic f FGA procedures enhances the effort of compassionate practitioners searching for a compromise position that respects cultural differences but protects the health of their patients.

Content: Moving forward rapidly in the clinical research phase, uterus transplantation may be a future treatment option for women with uterine factor infertility, which accounts for three per cent of all infertility in women. This new method of treatment would allow women, who currently rely on gestational surrogacy or adoption, to gestate and birth their own genetic offspring. Since uterus transplantation carries significant risk when compared with surrogacy and adoption as well as when compared with other organ transplants, it requires greater justification because its goals are quality of life, not life-saving, in their scope. It is important to address questions regarding the physical, psychosocial and ethical risks and benefits of uterus transplantation for all three parties involved—the patient, the donor and the potential child—as well as discuss the regulatory implications as research on uterus transplantations moves forward.

Content: Due to a history of coerced sterilization, a federal Medicaid sterilization policy mandates that a specific consent form be signed by a patient at least thirty days prior to when the patient undergoes sterilization. However, in contemporary obstetrical practice, the Medicaid sterilization policy serves as a policy-level barrier to autonomously desired care. We review the clinical and ethical implications of the current Medicaid sterilization policy. After discussing the utility and impact of waiting periods for other surgical procedures, we explore the psychology of time required for decision-making and consider scientific understanding of regret. We argue that the current Medicaid sterilization waiting period is clinically and ethically unjustifiable and that the policy ought to be revised in light of the goals, preferences, and concerns of the people most affected by it. While the need for continued protection against coercion remains, the current mandated waiting period does little to enforce the high-quality shared decision-making that is desired for sterilization counseling.
