Partizipation ist eine der wichtigsten Strukturmaximen einer modernen, lebensweltorientierten Jugendhilfe. Dabei sollten die Rechte, Bedürfnisse und Interessen von Mädchen und Jungen in Einrichtungen des Bildungs- und Erziehungswesens im Mittelpunkt der pädagogischen Bemühungen stehen. Die Praxis tut sich in konzeptioneller und alltagspraktischer Hinsicht mit dem Begriff der Partizipation nach wie vor schwer. Die vorliegende Studie untersucht in vier Wohngruppen der (teil-)stationären Erziehungshilfe, was die Akteure unter Partizipation verstehen, wie sie ihre Praxis bewerten und welche Ideen der Weiterentwicklung sie verfolgen. Wie kann es gelingen, Beziehungen zwischen Erwachsenen und Jugendlichen so zu gestalten, dass Jugendliche sich weitgehend beteiligt fühlen und die Verantwortung der Erwachsenen gewahrt bleibt? Wie kann die Kultur der gemeinsamen Verantwortung und Mitbestimmung weiterentwickelt werden? Wie können gute Formen der gemeinsamen Entscheidungskultur entwickelt werden? Der Band stellt die Erfolge und Misserfolge in Sachen Partizipation besonders bei Gruppenbesprechungen und der Erziehungsplanung dar und kommentiert diese kritisch. Er arbeitet erziehungstheoretische Widersprüche heraus, die sich durch den Begriff der Partizipation stellen, und gibt wertvolle Hinweise für die Weiterentwicklung der Praxis.
