Dieser schwarz-weiß-Dokumentarfilm berichtet über den "naiven" Maler Albert Ebert aus Halle. Herzstück des Films sind die einzigen schwarz-weiß-Aufnahmen aus dem Jahr 1964 bei Familie Ebert; man sieht in das klare, in sich gekehrte Gesicht des Malers und sieht ihn arbeiten, Farbe anrühren und Farbe auftragen. Die Staffelei steht in der Küche, auf dem Sofa ist die Katze, neben Ebert am Tisch sitzt der Sohn und macht Hausaufgaben. Albert Ebert, von Beruf eigentlich Bauarbeiter, begann erst circa vierzigjährig, nach seiner Rückkehr aus dem Krieg, zu malen. Es war die tiefe Betroffenheit über das Erlebte, die ihn zum Malen veranlasste. "Ich wollte malen und wollte eben die Welt so schön zeigen, wie ich sie eben empfand." Er hatte es dabei nicht leicht, verstanden zu werden und es dauerte einige Zeit, bis er öffentliche Anerkennung fand. Schöne Farbaufnahmen von Halle und dem Stadtteil Kröllwitz wechseln sich ab mit einer Auswahl von Detailaufnahmen seiner kleinformatigen und poetischen Werke. [www.defa-stiftung.de]
