    Content: According to the authors, when the leaders in the USSR are looking for ways to substitute the economic mechanism on market principles for the administrative-distributive system, scholars and managers of this country of course would like to borrow the experience of other countries moving in the same direction: the East European countries and China. It is the author's view, however, that too little attention is being given in the USSR to the experience of Vietnam, which over the past two years has made an impressive stride towards a new economic model, stabilization of the market, and curbing of inflation. They examine the transition in Vietnam from the administrative-command mechanism to market mechanism. (DÜI-Sen)

    Content: In recent years, scientists in the Soviet Union and other countries have been discussing a hypothesis of long waves in the development of socialist economics. The author attempts to find out "long waves" in economic development in China and the Soviet Union. He concludes that analysis of the "socialist" features of cyclic regularities shows how difficult and painful it can be try and break the many vicious circles in which the USSR and China are caught, without any guarantees that they can be broken at all.     Content: The authors assess the state of Soviet historigraphy on China and identify some of the key problems and lines of research paving the way for the formulation of a renewed conception of China's history in the 20th century. They criticize the concept "semi-colonial, semi-feudal society" used by Soviet historians when they give a general description of China's social system in the first half of the 20th century. They note that the classical Marxist conceptual apparatus is inadequate to grasp the Chinese reality of the 20th century. (DÜI-Sen)

    Content: According to the author, the tendencies toward reducting the armed confrontation level are spreading from Europe to Asia. The Korean Peninsula, which remains "an islet of cold war", is showing signs of a more active search for ways to ease tensions. He examines the relations between North and South Korea with special reference to the main obstacles in the way of military talks between them, the real content of the North-South arms race etc. The urgent need for security based on confidence is stressed.     Content: Voluminous correspondence, left for the posterity by members of the Russian Church Mission in Beijing, belongs to the period of their stay in Beijing. The author looks at private letters written by Pyotr Tugarinov (Archimandrite Policarp), head of the 12th Russian Church Mission, to Nikolai Lyubimov, then deputy director of the Asian Department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
