Nach Definition des Begriffs "Luftüberlegenheit" beschreibt der Verfasser die strategische und taktische Lage im Kampfgebiet Südangola/Nordnamibia aus der Sicht der südafrikanischen Luftwaffe (SAAF). Er betont deren 60 %-Überlegenheit in der Zahl der Kampfflugzeuge, räumt Vorteile bestimmter Typen ein (offenbar der sowjetische MIG-23 über südafrikanische Mirage und stellt fest, daß Angola jetzt ein "hochintegriertes und saturiertes bodengestütztes Luftverteidigungsnetz besitzt".Jedoch habe die SAAF die Ausdehnung dieses Schirms auf das Operationsgebiet in Südangola verhindert und könnte auch noch in seinen Bereich einbrechen. Der Aufsatz wurde offenbar vor der Schlacht um Cuito Cuanavale (Anfang 1988) abgeschlossen, in der die SAAF die Luftüberlegenheit verlor.
