Editor,
We appreciate the interest in our article and the supplementary comment.
Our questionnaire was mainly related to the knowledge of physicians regarding antibiotic stewardship (ABS). As the results proved a bad knowledge in this regard, we demanded an advanced training about multidrug-resistant organisms and antibiotic stewardship, regardless of medical specialty.
We fully agree that effective antibiotic stewardship is only possible through cooperation of all professional groups involved [1, 2]. The decreasing prevalence of multidrug-resistant organisms in urine cultures following the implementation of a multiprofessional ABS team as described by the authors impressively demonstrates the potential of such collaboration.
On behalf of all authors,
S. Lebentrau.
