Abstract
Mutants of helper phage M13 KO7 were isolated whose survival was up to 300-fold greater than the wild type after 30 min at 95 °C, and had increased solvent tolerance (up to 200-fold in 75% v/v N,N-dimethylformamide). These mutants retained their ability to package pIII-fusion display phagemids with normal efficiency and therefore will be useful in the isolation of stable protein variants by phage display.
