Net Synthesis of Lecithin in an Isolated Enzyme System

Abstract

WORK in this Laboratory1 has shown that the biosynthesis of lecithin and of phosphatidyl ethanolamine involves the intermediary formation of cytidine diphosphate choline and cytidine diphosphate ethanolamine. The enzymatic synthesis of lecithin is described in the following simplified scheme:
