The purpose of this study was to explore the differences of host residents' social influence pre-post event. Host residents aged above 18 were investigated through computer-aided telephone interview (CATI). In total, 2,226 valid questionnaires were collected. Results showed that most of the surveyed host residents expressed a positive social influence of the event. It is suggested that bidding for the mega-event in the future is feasible and the host city could increase the overall benefits by providing more public services reducing the impact on the environment.
