Development of fatty acid analysis by high-performance liquid chromatography, gas chromatography, and related techniques
2002, Analytica Chimica ActaCitation Excerpt :Mierzwa and Witek proposed that the 2,2,2-trichloroethyl ester derivative of phenoxyacetic acid might facilitate detection of the latter by ECD [399], and a similar reaction was proposed by Smith and Tsai [400]. The drug flurbiprofen, 2-(2-fluoro-4-biphenyl) propionic acid, was transformed to a pentafluorobenzyl ester to enhance its detection by ECD [401]. Localization of the hydroxy group in a FA chain is usually achieved by derivatization and HPLC–MS or GC–MS analysis.
