Eingeführte Reihe. Die schmale Einführung in Leben, Werk und Wirkungsgeschichte Heinrich von Kleists, vorgelegt im "Kleist-Jahr" (200. Todestag des Dichters am 21. 11. 2011), setzt ihren Schwerpunkt auf Kleists Dramen und Erzählungen, die vergleichsweise ausführlich charakterisiert und interpretiert werden. Berücksichtigt ist auch das publizistische Werk, während Kleist zerissene Biografie und seine wechselhafte Wirkungsgeschichte nur sehr knapp zusammengefasst werden. Der Sprachstil Kreutzers, emeritierter Professor an der Universität Regensburg, ist erfreulich unakademisch: knapp, pointiert und immer allgemein verständlich. Auf die jüngere und die aktuelle Kleist-Forschung nimmt Kreutzer allerdings kaum Bezug, was den Informationswert des Bandes für Studenten erheblich mindert. Da auch auf Illustrationen und grafische Textauflockerungen durchgängig verzichtet ist, kann die Einführung erst nach und ergänzend zu Standardtiteln wie Hans-Georg Schede (BA 1/09) oder Wilhelm Amann (ID-A 14/11) empfohlen werden.
