This is due to its history as the territory of what is today Louisiana was under French and Spanish colonial rule before being acquired by the United States.The Louisiana Civil Code boasts 3,556 provisions, which are housed in an introductory title and four books (governing persons, things, acquisition of ownership, and conflicts).The author teaches Louisiana Property Law, Public International Law and Introduction to U.S. Law at Loyola University New Orleans College of Law. Mit der Übersetzung des Zivilgesetzbuchs von Louisiana aus dem Englischen ins Deutsche wird Forschung, Lehre und Praxis im deutschen Sprachraum erstmals der unmittelbare Zugriff auf eine der bedeutendsten und dennoch in Europa weitgehend unbekannt gebliebenen Privatrechtskodifikationen ermöglicht. Louisiana wird der Rechtsfamilie der Mischsysteme zugerechnet. Dies hat zunächst geschichtliche Gründe, da das Gebiet des heutigen Bundesstaates vor dem Erwerb durch die Vereinigten Staaten unter französischer und spanischer Kolonialherrschaft stand. Das Gesetzeswerk umfasst 3.556 Vorschriften, die in einem Einleitungstitel und vier Büchern (Personen, Sachen, Eigentumserwerb und Kollisionsnormen) untergebracht sind. Der Autor lehrt Sachenrecht von Louisiana, Völkerrecht und Einführung in das U.S.-amerikanische Recht an der Loyola Universität in New Orleans (The Honorable Herbert W. Christenberry Professor of Law). Er ist Mitglied der Akademie für europäisches Privatrecht.
