La poésie est considérée comme l'acte existentiel de relier l'être à des réalités concrètes et empiriques, en mettant en question l'abstraction du langage. L'achitecture moderne selon le rapport forme / fonction correspond à cette définition du poétique, dans la mesure où elle rend compte des conditions du réel. Elle le fait cependant dans des termes classiques. La thèse analyse ce rapport théorique selon l'énonciation qu'en fit son inventeur, Louis H. Sullivan, et montre que l'oeuvrethéorique de ce dernier s'inscrit dans le mythe de la modernité. Mais le mythe est fiction, d'une autre nature que la poésie, qu'il définit par la négative. Tandis que l'architecture qui construit le lieu réél vécu approche l'être poétique, ce qui n'est que répondre à l'ancien besoin d'abri. Certains aspects cruciaux de l'oeuvre de Le Corbusier sont aussi examinés, où sa théorie et métaphores de la modernité relèvent du mythe, ne sont qu'une rhétorique de la construction de l'espace qu'il nous a léguée

Poetry is considered as the existencialact of linking the being to concrete and empirical realties, while questionning the abstraction of langage. Modern architecture bethought as te form / fonction formula, corresponds to this definition of poetics, because its concern is time and place. It does so, nevertheless, in classical terms or words. The thesis analyses this formula as set forth by its inventor, Louis H. Sullivan, and shows that his work participates to the myth of modernity. But, because it is fictional, myth is different from poetry, and is radically opposed to it. Whereas architecture taht builds the real and lived place, reaches the poetic being, an accomplishment which is but an answer to the old need for a shelter. Some crucial point of Le Corbusier's work are also questionned, where is theory and metaphors of modernity are a matter of myth, and therefore are but rhetorics of this construction of space which we inherited
