-- "Designating with an atypical course, Patrick Norguet maintains a privileged relationship with the production tool as well as with the beauty of forms. Sense of colour, formal restraint, its elegant purity and its permanent search for comfort, his work is in direct lineage with the canons of Nordic design. His career changed dramatically in 2000, when Giulio Cappellini spotted his now famous Rainbow Chair, which has now entered the collection of MoMA in New York. Since then he has drawn for major publishers such as Cappellini, Poltrona Frau, Cassina, Tacchini, Hermès, Tolix, Artifort, Pedrali, Ethimo etc. Beyond the search for the right line and elegant plastic, for Patrick Norguet design is above all a collective and innovative approach. He likes factories, materials, techniques, the beauty of the mechanical part and its assemblies. Today, he shares the genesis of 25 of his creations in a beautiful book, which he imagined as an original photographic work, a poetic and dreamlike visual tale, which questions the relationship of the object to the body and highlights the process of creation."

Inhalt: "Paris Promenade. Eugène Atget's unique city portrait. A flâneur and photographer at once, Eugène Atget (1857-1927) was obsessed with walking the streets. After trying his hand at painting and acting, the native of Libourne turned to photography and moved to Paris. He supplied studies for painters, architects, and stage designers, but became enraptured by what he called 'documents' of the city and its environs. His scenes rarely included people, but rather the architecture, landscape, and artifacts that made up the societal and cultural stage. Atget was not particularly renowned during his lifetime, but in the 1920s came to the attention of the Dada and Surrealist avant-garde through Man Ray. Four of his images, with their particular fusion of mimesis and mystery, appeared in the surrealist journal, La Révolution Surréaliste, while Ray and much of his artistic circle purchased Atget prints. Atget's fame grew after his death, with several articles and a monograph by Berenice Abbott. Several leading photographers, including Walker Evans and Bill Brandt, have since acknowledged their debt to Atget. This fresh TASCHEN edition gathers some 500 photographs from the Atget archives at Musée Carnavalet and the Bibliothèque Historique de la Ville de Paris to celebrate his outstanding eye for the urban environment and evocation of a Paris gone by. Down main streets and side streets, past shops and churches, through courtyards and arcades and the 20 arrondissements, we find a unique portrait of a beloved city and the making of a modern photographic master."

-- "To write a global overview of a little-researched area of printmaking, the architectural model building sheet, is in itself worthwhile, because it has not yet existed. Dieter Nievergelt is the best possible author for the history of cardboard model making. [...] The accompanying book is a standard work, a cornerstone and impetus for an area of cultural history, which further research seems worthwhile. The model building sheet is a special type of picture sheet, but has so far enjoyed little research interest. [...] On 48 colour pages, the author tells us the story of the model sheet, its predecessors and the architectural model sheet around the world (as far as it was involved) in a concise and factual manner. [...] Many images illustrate the text, but of course they cannot replace the missing catalogue, especially since some of them are so small that you have to look at them with a magnifying glass. The exhibition catalogue contains 96 black-and-white pages following the text and illustration section, which is an invaluable reference work for anyone who has anything to do with architectural model sheets."
