In Fontainhas, einem armen Einwandererviertel Lissabons, wurden die meisten Häuser abgerissen und die Bewohner in ein neues Stadtviertel zwangsumgesiedelt, darunter auch ein pensionierter kapverdischer Arbeiter, der 34 Jahre lang in Fontainhas lebte. Täglich besucht er die wenigen ehemaligen Nachbarn und seine Kinder, die noch im Viertel wohnen. Bei diesen Besuchern begleitet ihn das Filmteam und beobachtet eine von Drogen, Gewalt und materieller Perspektivlosigkeit geprägte Welt, stößt aber auch auf Spuren eines unter der alltäglichen Not verschütteten Stolzes der Menschen.
