Die Börse war im 19. und 20. Jahrhundert einer der spektakulärsten Orte im Zentrum Berlins. Der 1863 eingeweihte repräsentative Monumentalbau gegenüber dem Berliner Dom manifestierte das neue Nationalbewusstsein Preußens und entwickelte sich zu einem prominenten Schauplatz ökonomischen Wissens im Deutschen Reich und in der Weimarer Republik. Während des Zweiten Weltkriegs zerstört, ist er heute weitgehend vergessen. Die Autorin rekonstruiert aus kulturwissenschaftlicher und medienhistorischer Sicht Episoden dieses modernen Finanzinstituts aus der Zeit von der Grundsteinlegung 1860 bis zur »Machtergreifung« durch die Nationalsozialisten 1933.
