Content: In fashion and pop culture, one encounters religious symbols surprisingly often, be it crosses on T-shirts, depictions of Buddha on handbags or the colourful goddess Kali on swimsuits. ‘Religion’ on clothing seems to be ‘in vogue’. This book conducts a study of the reception of religious symbols in the field of popular clothing from the perspective of religious studies and tests this approach in an examination of clothing practices in the Swiss black metal scene

Content: Multiple refugee regimes govern the lives of forced migrants simultaneously but in an often conflicting way. As a mechanism of inclusion/exclusion, they tend to engender the violence they sought to dissipate. Protection and control channel agency through mechanisms of either tutelage and victimisation or criminalisation. This book contrasts multiple groups of refugees and refugee regimes, revealing the inherent coercive violence of refugee regimes, from displacement and expulsion, to stereotypification and exclusion in host countries, and academic knowledge essentialisation. Content: Care work is a vital foundation of society. Without the many people who look after children every day, care for relatives in need of support or help people in crisis, this society would collapse immediately. At the same time, those who take on this work are equally overstretched as the ecosystems and their material cycles on which all life is based. These problems are ultimately not solvable in a capitalist social order. Therefore, we need to radically limit profit-oriented economic activity in favour of a care economy that is oriented towards successful care relationships and the resilience of ecosystems. The concept of the Care Revolution opens the way to a society characterised by care and solidarity instead of competition and exclusion.

Content: Nicht zuletzt die Corona-Pandemie hat überdeutlich gezeigt, dass Sorgearbeit ein lebensnotwendiges Fundament der Gesellschaft ist. Ebenso notwendig ist die Bewahrung eines Klimas, das menschliches Leben ermöglicht. Daher zielt die umfassende Transformationsstrategie der Care Revolution darauf ab, eine solidarische und zugleich nachhaltige Care-Ökonomie aufzubauen, in der sich die Rahmenbedingungen für Care-Beschäftigte und familiär Sorgearbeitende deutlich verbessern.Die Konzentration auf Sorge und Solidarität als zentrale Gestaltungsprinzipien des gesellschaftlichen Handelns ermöglichen aber auch in anderen ökonomischen Bereichen eine Umgestaltung unter Achtung der ökologischen Grenzen.
