Content: How do we as a society cope with future hazards? In an increasing number of German policy areas, ‘risk’ is a key term in important policy documents. Risk may then give rise to the idea of risk governance, which implies the analysis, assessment and management of risks in a sustained societal process. This conceptualisation of risk governance allows us to normatively focus political action on disaster prevention instead of on coping with disasters after they have occurred. This study analyses policy translation from an international to a national level in terms of the EU flood risk management directive, the approach to risk analysis used by the German Federal Agency for civil protection and the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction to find out if the potential of risk governance is being exploited and how extensively responsibility is being transferred from the state to citizens in this process. Finally, the author concludes that several important factors hinder a normative shift towards disaster prevention

Content: This book offers readers an extensive introduction, which not only helps in reading Plotinus’ text, but also explains the methodological choices that are the basis of the constitution and interpretation of the 24th treatise from the Enneads. The introduction is followed by the Greek text, in which the reader can find a critical apparatus in which variants of the text from Henry & Schwytzer’s book are given. These variae lectiones mainly take a clear stance on the intensive or reflective form and the gender, male or neutral, of the pronoun with which Plotinus indicates the first principle. The Italian translation follows, accompanied by explanatory notes. The translation is followed by an extensive commentary, in which the method of explaining Plotinus with Plotinus is mainly used. Although it makes critical comparisons with selected research literature, the commentary mainly uses the ancient sources and the various treatises of the Enneads, to which it constantly relates the passages of Enn. V 6 [24]

Content: In spite of its brevity and its aporetical ending, Plato’s Hippias minor is worth considering, for it deals with relevant questions such as falsehood, its relationship to wrongdoing and the more complex problem of voluntary and involuntary action. Moreover, the central section of the dialogue is devoted to the exegesis of the Homeric poems and in particular of the Iliad, developing a comparison between Achilles and Odysseus and thus offering important evidence of Plato’s early interest in poetic production. The aim of the present work is to give a new critical edition of the Greek text with Italian translation, preceded by a general introduction and followed by a continuous lemmatic commentary in order to provide a systematic analysis of the dialogue in every aspect
