Content: This magnificent new volume presents works of art from the fabled collection of Philippe II, Duke of Orleans (1674-1723), including masterpieces by Raphael, Titian, Veronese, Correggio, Poussin, Rubens, and Rembrandt, bringing them together for the first time since the collection's sale and dispersal more than two hundred years ago. In this book a representative group of nearly forty works, paintings, books, engravings, and portraits, tell the story of the collection's formation and exceptional character, focusing on such themes as the importance of the collection in the duke's lifetime; the art market in early eighteenth-century Paris; the display of the collection in public and private spaces; and its widespread fame and resulting impact on visitors and contemporary artists and collectors in Paris.0This volume is both a celebration of the tricentennial of the city of New Orleans, as well as being a major contribution to art historical scholarship and is of great interest to art historians and collectors, as well as to the general public. The volume is structured to maximize scholarly interest, publish new research and consolidate what is known about Phillippe II's collection, one of the greatest private collections of Western art ever assembled
Note: Published in conjunction with the New Orleans Tricentennial (1718-2018) , This catalogue accompanies the exhibition "The Orléans Collection" organized by the New Orleans Museum of Art, from October 26, 2018-January 27, 2019, on view exclusively in New Orleans

Content: This book focuses on different aspects of microplastic pollution, offering authors and readers the opportunity to share their knowledge, identify issues and propose solutions and actions to face this environmental threat. Although plastic pollution is a well-known global problem, the recent discovery of microplastics and nanoplastics in seas and oceans represents a very alarming new environmental challenge. The book offers comprehensive insights into the origins of the problem, its impact on marine environments, particularly the Mediterranean Sea and coasts, and the current research trends aimed at finding technical solutions to mitigate the phenomenon. It is primarily intended for scientists and decision makers from industry, international, national and local institutions and NGOs

Content: What is 'garbage'? 'Trash'? 'Rubbish'? More than a hundred years after Marcel Duchamp changed the course of Western art by re-focusing our view of 'found objects', artists today continue to explore 'refuse' and its many uses and meanings in contemporary art. This fascinating, fully illustrated book explores several recognisable trends among artists who consistently 're-purpose' garbage or detritus to create works that examine identity, index and environment. Each theme is a potent reminder of our close connection to the materials we use to create and facilitate our lives. In the deft hands of these artists, those connections are far from severed when these materials are discarded. Featuring interviews with artists Nick Cave, Aurora Robson, Mac Premo, Jill Sigman, Alyce Santoro and others, this cleverly designed volume highlights both recognisable and unpublished works of art from established and emerging artists in the field

Content: A retrospective view of Rubén Ortiz Torres's art production. "Over the course of three decades, Rubén Ortiz Torres has produced work in such diverse media and materials as painting, photography, collage, video, film, multimedia, sculpture. He has also made constructivist use of these media and materials, syncretizing them in complex montages through a range of formal and political strategies including large- and small-format customization, appropriation, hybridization, and ready-mades that cumulatively produce a baroque, iconoclastic effect. The formal complexity and the originality of the genres and productive techniques that Ortiz Torres make his work unique. Unlike many artists of his generation in Mexico, Ortiz Torres's work has taken a critical positions generated from Mexico and Latin America formalist avant-garde -inevitably paired with and assimilated to a model of developmentalist, institutional and dominant modernism-interrupt and advance a political perspective on the reorganization of the circuit of the relations of production that connect art, the academy, cultural anthropology, mass culture, social movements and popular culture. work."--Page 25
