Die "Geographie für Kinder" behandelt Europa, aufgeteilt in 27 Länder, die mehr oder weniger ausführlich beschrieben werden - je nach der Wichtigkeit, die der Verfasser ihnen beimißt. Die fiktive Reise, der die Kinder auf der Landkarte folgen, beginnt - nach einer allgemeinen Einführung "Von Europa überhaupt" - im Südwesten mit Portugal. ... Die Behandlung Deutschlands nimmt den größten Raum ein und hier wiederum das Kapitel "Vom Niedersächsischen Kreis". Bei den einzelnen Ländern werden zumeist Größe und angrenzende Länder bzw. Gebiete, Teilgebiete und Provinzen dargestellt, ferner Kolonien, Flüsse, Städte, Staatsform, Regenten und deren Linien, Beschaffenheit des Landes, Tier- und Pflanzenwelt, Bodenschätze, Wirtschaft, Bevölkerungszahl und -eigenarten, Religion, berühmte Persönlichkeiten und geschichtliche Ereignisse. Vieles wird allerdings nur genannt und findet keine nähere Erläuterung oder Einordnung in einen Gesamtzusammenhang. Um der Faktenfülle einen Hintergrund zu geben, sind häufig Anmerkungen in den Text eingelassen, die entweder selbst nähere Erläuterungen geben oder auf weiterführende Literatur, meist "Das Leipziger Wochenblatt für Kinder", verweisen oder auch den Erzieher auffordern, Erweiterungen und Erklärungen zu geben."
