    UID:
    almafu_9959146084002883
    Umfang: 1 electronic resource (XIII, 388 p. p.)
    ISBN: 1-000-03146-2
Serie: Karlsruher Schriften zur Anthropomatik / Lehrstuhl für Interaktive Echtzeitsysteme, Karlsruher Institut für Technologie ; Fraunhofer-Inst. für Optronik, Systemtechnik und Bildauswertung IOSB Karlsruhe
Inhalt: MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) are situated between automation and management level and are affected from changes of the production. Therefore their adaptivity within the lifecycle of production plants is mission critical. Furthermore MES act as data and information hub. This means that they have to work together with other systems in an efficient and seamless way. MES must be interoperable and must have semantics under control. The present publication faces both aspects.

    Umfang: 1 electronic resource (XX, 142 p. p.)
    ISBN: 1000031463
Serie: Karlsruhe Series in Photonics and Communications / Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Institute of Photonics and Quantum Electronics (IPQ)
Inhalt: Self-coherent receivers are promising candidates for reception of 100 Gbit/s data rates in optical networks. Self-coherent receivers consist of multiple optical delay interferometers (DI) with high-speed photodiodes attached to the outputs. By DSP of the photo currents it becomes possible to receive coherently modulated optical signals. Especially promising for 100 Gbit/s networks is the PolMUX DQPSK format, the self-coherent reception of which is described in detail.

    Umfang: 1 electronic resource (VIII, 246 p. p.)
    ISBN: 1000031464
Serie: Karlsruhe Series in Photonics and Communications / Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Institute of Photonics and Quantum Electronics (IPQ)
Inhalt: In this book, semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOAs) are studied with a view to linear and nonlinear applications in next-generation optical networks. Quantum-dot SOAs can be optimized for linear amplification of signals with different modulation formats and multiplexing techniques. Conversely, bulk SOAs can be easily optimized for operation in the nonlinear regime. However, due to the fast carrier recovery times in QD SOAs we also look into nonlinear applications with these devices.
