Die Studie widmet sich der Literarisierung von Forschungsexpeditionen anhand eines Vergleichs von Forster, Humboldt und Chamisso. Im ersten Teil steht die Fremddarstellung der Expeditionsziele, im zweiten Teil die Selbstdarstellung der Naturwissenschaftler im Vordergrund.
