Aprendida y sujeta a un largo proceso de influencia misionera, la Semana Santa en Norogachi (Chihuahua, México) ha ido incorporando a la celebración elementos nuevos, propios del pensamiento y sentimiento indígena que la pone en escena. Describiremos aquí de manera detallada el proceso festivo y ritual de dicho acontecimiento, siempre apoyado en la propia experiencia etnográfica, para seguidamente situarnos en torno al sentido que poseen sus diferentes elementos simbólicos. La pregunta fundamental a la que responder será: ¿cómo una manifestación religiosa aprendida o impuesta al pueblo rarámuri en el pasado, ha sido refuncionalizada para hacerla significativa y útil en el contexto actual? Como veremos, los sentidos construidos sobre la Semana Santa en este lugar son tantos como los actores y espectadores que le dan vida.

Under long-term missionary influence, the Semana Santa at Norogachi (Chihuahua, Mexico) has come to incorporate to the celebrations a mise-en-scène of some new elements characteristic for indigenous thinking and feeling. The ritual feast process is described here in detail, always founded in the own ethnographic experience, and then situated in the configurations of sense of its different symbolic elements. The fundamental question is: How could a learned religious manifestation, imposed to the Rarámuri peoples in the past, have been refunctionalised to become senseful and useful under actual conditions? It is shown that the constructions of sense about the Semana Santa at this place are as much as the actors and spectators who fill it with life.
