El artículo describe y analiza la situación religiosa entre blancomestizos, negros1 e indígenas Awá, en el municipio de Tumaco, departamento de Nariño, en Colombia. Se introduce el concepto de relaciones fronterizas como un elemento que permite interpretar el tipo de relaciones fluctuantes que allí se constituyen alrededor de elementos tan importantes como lo son las creencias y prácticas religiosas. Se estudia, asimismo, la importancia de los discursos contenidos en los relatos indígenas como factores de resistencia y construcción de identidad.

The paper describes and analyzes the religious situation between blanco-mestizos, black and Awá natives in the municipality of Tumaco, department of Nariño, Colombia. The concept of border relations is introduced as an element that allows to interpret the type of fluctuating relations that are constituted there around elements as important as beliefs and religious practices. The discourses comprised in indigenous narratives are analyzed with regard to their importance as factors of resistance and identity construction.
