    Content: 传教士因其在中外文化交流中的独特作用早已受到史学工作者的重视,但以往较注重其在宗教、教育、科技等方面的影响,而忽略了传教士在输入西方法律思想过程中的重要作用.该文研究了晚清西法东渐的过程,认为:新教传教士自鸦片战争后,采取多种途径,大力引进西方文明的法律制度,包括国际公法、刑法、民法、商律、程度诉讼法等,为清末法律政策提供了借鉴,在某种程度上推进了中国法律的近代转型,因而,传教士是晚清时期沟通东西方法律文化交流的重要桥梁.19世纪末20世纪初,由于国人翻译水平的逐渐提升及留学生数量的不断增加,传教士作为西法东渐主体的时代走向结束.
