Der abschließende, dritte Band von Reiner Stachs hoch gelobter Kafka-Biografie widmet sich den frühen Jahren des Schriftstellers. Von 1883 bis 1911 begleitet der Literaturwissenschaftler Kafka durch dessen unglückliche Kindheit und Jugend, durch das Studium und die ersten Berufsjahre. Die Schilderung der Lebensumstände, die auch Geschichtliches nicht ausspart, ist dabei so anschaulich, dass das 600-Seiten-starke Werk sich beinahe liest wie ein Roman. Ein ausgesprochen detaillierter, atmosphärisch dichter Roman noch dazu, der den Zeitgeist der Jahrhundertwende lebendig werden lässt. Das anschauliche Porträt von Kafkas Werden als Schriftsteller ist derzeit (KW 42) auf Platz 18 der Spiegel-Bestsellerliste platziert und kann von Büchereien auch unabhängig von den Vorgängerbänden angeboten werden.
