In der neuen Reihe "Die grossen Genies der Menschheit" stellt der Autor und Illustrator Kindern den Renaissance-Wissenschaftler Galilei vor. Er erzählt dessen Leben aus der Ich-Perspektive, wobei er der Kindheit und Jugend relativ viel Platz einräumt. Doch im Mittelpunkt stehen Galileis Vorgehensweise, seine Entdeckungen und Erfindungen und die Auseinandersetzungen mit der Kirche. Den knappen, einfach und anschaulich geschriebenen Text illustrieren zahlreiche comicartige Zeichnungen, die aber wenig zum Verständnis von Galileis Vorstellungen beitragen. Funktionaler sind die Reproduktionen von Gemälden und naturwissenschaftlichen Instrumente der Zeit. Ein "Kleines Wörterbuch der Astronomie" stellt Galileis Beitrag in den Kontext seiner Zeit. Vorgestellt werden u.a. auch Wissenschaftler wie Kepler, aber auch die Grundlagen der Astronomie. Eine gute Ergänzung zu Kruses Überblick "Im Land der weiten Zeit" (BA 1/99) und 'Sis' optisch ansprechenderem, aber inhaltlich dünnerem "Der Sternenbote" (BA 1/97).
