Das Politische boomt in der Kunstausstellung. In der letzten Zeit widmen sich immer mehr Ausstellungen politischen Themen, immer häufiger nehmen sie selbst einen dezidiert politischen Charakter an oder erfahren durch zeithistorische Umstände eine politische Aufladung. Die vielfältigen Kontexte und Hintergründe, durch die Ausstellungen zum ‚Politikum‘ werden, werfen eine Reihe von Fragen auf. Dieser Band gibt einen Einblick in Geschichte, Strategien und Ergebnisse politisch involvierter Kunstausstellungen. Er enthält Analysen von Ausstellungen seit den 1960er Jahren bis zur Gegenwart, darunter auch Rückblicke der an Ausstellungen Beteiligten. Die Beispiele reichen von slowakischen Ausstellungen zur Zeit des Prager Frühlings bis zur Ausstellung "Verbotene Kunst" in Moskau, von Beuys' Aktivitäten auf der documenta 6 bis zum Umgang der 13. Istanbul Biennale mit der Gezi-Park-Bewegung, von Transformationen der Ausstellung wie "Acht Wochen Klausur" in Zürich bis zur Überschreitung des Ausstellungsformats durch Projekte wie "Former West".

Angaben zur beteiligten Person Korowin: Elena Korowin studierte Kunstwissenschaft, Medientheorie, Philosophie und kuratorische Praxis an der Hochschule für Gestaltung in Karlsruhe. Sie beteiligt sich europaweit an Symposien und Tagungen. Nach einem Volontariat an der Staatlichen Kunsthalle Baden-Baden, arbeitet sie als wissenschaftliche Assistenz von Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich am Institut der Kunstwissenschaft der Hochschule für Gestaltung Karlsruhe.

Angaben zur beteiligten Person Fritz: Elisabeth Fritz ist Kunsthistorikerin und Soziologin. Sie war an verschiedenen Kunstinstitutionen in Wien tätig und wurde an der Universität Graz promoviert. Seit 2012 ist sie Wissenschaftliche Assistentin am Lehrstuhl für Kunstgeschichte der Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena.
