Der Autor, Distinguished Research Professor für Geschichte in Toronto, ist zugleich Jazz-Fachmann und Jazz-Musiker. Seine bis in viele Details genau recherchierte, sorgfältig eine Fülle Materials zu einem breiten Spektrum von Informationen verarbeitende Untergrundgeschichte des Jazz in NS-Deutschland ist zudem eine geradezu spannende Lektüre, nicht nur für Jazz-Insider.
